Observations of a curious person whose life has taken him many places, real and imagined (perhaps)...

Sorry to be out of touch. All is well, and we are moving to a new (to us) house, and I don't have time for blogging right now. New facility has dedicated blog room and bomb shelter, so future looks bright (and secure). Back atcha April 1 or before. Emphasis will likely change to householder matters for a while, such as sewer cleanouts and sprinkler system rehabs. Just kidding, I'll keep that stuff to myself unless it involves amusing situations.Cheerio!

And, here's an amusing URL that deals with a duct tape manufacturer's "wear a costume made of duct tape to the prom and win a scholarship" promotion. The photos are worth a look...

So I went to the Springwater Center and sat a week-long silent retreat with Toni Packer. A week without talk, phone calls, news, cars, buying anything, haggling, niggling, and general argle-bargle. If you're not into this sort of thing, I'm sure it sounds nuts, but it was delightful. Now it is back to a very active period of moving to a new (for us) house, supporting Jane in preparing for a pressure-packed trial (she's a defense lawyer), etc., etc., etc. Also have a cold for the first time in years.

But here's something: I've taken up reading books I have loved for a second time. I came across T.H. White's The Once and Future King, and was surprised to see that the last time I read it was in 1972! Now, the book hasn't changed in that time, but yours truly has, a wee bit. If you haven't read the best telling of the Arthurian story recently, I cannot commend it to you highly enough. It makes me want to go to England for Christmas, and rekindles my interest in this timeless and complex story, from which all novels in English trace their ancestry.

So go on, sally forth!
